Albion youngster refusing to get carried away

West Brom midfielder Sam Field insists he is determined to keep his feet on the ground despite his steady rise at the club.

The 19-year-old has made 11 Premier League appearances for the Baggies since he made his debut in 2016.

He is highly thought of by boss Tony Pulis but a regular run of games is unlikely this season. Pulis is under pressure after a poor start to the campaign and a loan move could be on the cards for Field.

After recently signing a 12-month extension to his contract, Field insists he will not change and is determined to improve his game in the coming months.

He told the Express and Star: "For a young lad it can come quite quick if you’re not careful. You’ve just got to keep your feet on the floor and concentrate on your football.

"I always trust the club and they always have my best interests at heart. It’s very difficult to get into the team at the minute and rightly so because the standard is very good of the players.

"My friends are always asking about football. I’m almost not interested in it. I do it here (at the training ground), I concentrate here, then I go home and I’m just normal Sam.

"I like to think I’m pretty mellow, I don’t get too high, don’t get too low. I just go day by day, trying to improve."
