The 24-year-old was originally loan out to Derby in September for a month and has seen his spell with the Rams extended twice, culminating in his current deal which expires on December 29.
With Baggies manager Roberto Di Matteo currently having plenty of options up front Moore's future at the Hawthorns looks bleak and Derby have now decided to try and extend his deal until the end of the campaign.
Rams chief executive Tom Glick has said manager Nigel Clough is keen to have Moore on board and is hopeful of having a deal tied up for the former Aston Villa man shortly.
Glick told BBC Radio Derby: "I think [manager] Nigel Clough has been clear that we are interested in extending it.
"We would hope that soon we would be able to report that we have done that."
