Pardew reveals West Brom target

Manager Alan Pardew has set West Brom a target of winning nine Premier League matches, starting at Swansea City on Saturday.

Pardew recently took over from the sacked Tony Pulis and the former Newcastle United boss led his side to a 0-0 draw against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace in his first game in charge.

The Baggies have not won a Premier League match since the 1-0 triumph over Burnley on August 19 and their dreadful run of form has seen the club slip to 17th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.

A lack of goals has been a huge problem for the West Midlands-based outfit, having scored just 12 times, whilst the team have been uncharacteristically poor at the back, conceding 21 goals.

Saturday's clash at the Liberty Stadium against bottom-of-the-table Swansea is absolutely massive for both sides and Pardew is eyeing all three points.

"We've had a really good week on the training ground. I've learnt that the players have a thirst for success and a determination to turn things around," he said. "We need to turn up on Saturday afternoon and we need to win the game. Football is about results. We need to win at least nine games. Hopefully after Saturday it'll be eight."

Pardew has revealed both Chris Brunt and Matt Phillips are expected to be part of the squad after recovering from recent knocks although Gareth Barry will not be available for selection due to injury.

With the return of two first-team players, punters may decide to use their free bet on the Baggies picking up just their third win of the season and easing their relegation fears.
