Ward on West Brom radar

West Brom have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward who is reportedly set to leave Selhurst Park.

Tony Pulis has been thwarted in his attempts to sign Middlesbrough's Ben Gibson and may now turn his attention elsewhere, with Ward said to be on the cusp of departing the Eagles.

The 27-year-old has been with Palace for five seasons and made 186 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals along the way, but it seems as though his days in south London may be numbered.

The Sun has reported that the former Portsmouth stopper has rejected the offer of a new four-year deal with the club as Frank de Boer's 3-4-3 formation has left him 'frozen out' of the first-team picture.

Pulis knows the player well having worked with him when in charge of Palace and the link is obvious, and he could use the versatile defender as a full-back or in the centre of his rearguard.

The Hampshire-born player's current deal expires in 12 months and so the capital club will be keen to offload him now to avoid him leaving for free next summer.
