Co-owner David Gold has confirmed West Ham needs to offload some players before the club can add another striker to the ranks.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has made no secret of the fact he is looking to add another front man to the team but the current Financial Fair Play rules mean they have little room in their squad unless a current player leaves first.
The east Londoners broke their transfer record when they signed Andy Carroll in the summer, but Gold revealed that the club are still looking to add a forward to their squad before the window shuts on September 2.
"We're still short of a striker, (fellow co-owner) David Sullivan agrees with me, (manager) Sam Allardyce agrees with me but until we release the wages, there's little we can do," Gold told Sky Sports.
"We can still [do some business] in the next couple of weeks, so we'll see what will happens."
