Slaven Bilic says Reece Oxford should stay and make a name for himself at West Ham as talks over a new contract continue.
Negotiations with the 17-year-old's camp have been ongoing since the end of last season but without much success, the defensive midfielder having seemingly had his headed turned by interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City.
Oxford's current deal expires at the end of next season and West Ham are eager to get him signed up to an extension before the end of this campaign in order to avoid a summer of speculation.
Bilic is confident Oxford will commit his future to the club eventually and believes he should follow in the footsteps of the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick, who were regulars for West Ham before moving on.
There are a few examples of players who had great careers who started at West Ham," said Bilic.
"Rio plays in his position so it's very similar. Then Lampard and Carrick. At first they went on loan, short-term, and came back and became regulars at West Ham, and had time to become world-class players.
"I know his representatives are talking to the club and hopefully it will be sorted soon, in a good way."
