Three expected to return for vital West Ham encounter

Andy Carroll is one of three players who could return for West Ham in Monday's crucial home clash against Stoke City.

England international Carroll last appeared for the Hammers in the 2-1 win over West Brom on January 2 but, after a long spell out with a fractured foot, he is back in contention for the game at the London Stadium.

Manager David Moyes also revealed Manuel Lanzini and James Collins are pushing for a place in the starting 11 following spells on the sidelines although the Scottish tactician is cautious about rushing the trio back too early.

‘Andy is back in training,’ he said. ‘We got him back at the start of the week and we will keep monitoring him. He’s trained for a few days, so we’ll see how he is. He’s obviously not played for eleven weeks, and I’ve got that in my mind as well.

‘He’s champing at the bit, but that’s the same for the other players we’ve had out like Manuel Lanzini and James Collins who have only been out for four or five weeks.’

Moyes, who could take his side nine points clear of the relegation zone with a win against the Potters, is definitely without Sam Byram, Pedro Obiang and Winston Reid as the trio continue to recover from their respective injuries.
