Wigan could welcome back Ryo Miyaichi against Bournemouth while new boys Roger Espinoza and Angelo Henriquez may also figure.
Miyaichi has been hampered by injury and has hardly played since arriving on loan from Arsenal in the summer but Roberto Martinez says there is a good chance he could figure in the FA Cup third-round clash.
Martinez is set to make changes following a hectic festive period that has taken it out of his players and Miyaichi is sure to start if he comes through training without any problems this week.
"Ryo has a chance for the FA Cup game," the Spaniard revealed. "He is 80 per cent of his full fitness and is joining the main group this week. We hope he is going to be back very soon."
Henriquez has arrived on loan from Manchester United for the rest of the season and Martinez is set to throw him and Espinoza straight in against the Cherries.
"Saturday will provide him with the perfect opportunity to begin his experiences on the pitch in English football," the boss added.
